Meet Nicole

Nicole found herself homeless two days before Christmas after moving to Utah from Delaware. After just one month in a Village of Life Home, she was able to buy a car which gave her transportation to and from work. Through mentoring, she has increased her income by $3 per hour. This has allowed her to put her son in Kenpo and her daughter in ballet. After just one year, she and her children are now on their own and thriving.

"I had the support of someone who had previously been where I was at, which in turn helped my children and I to feel safe and heal. I had someone to offer me the breaks I didn't even know I needed when the single Mom job got too much, and later I was given the encouragement I needed to apply, interview and accept a better paying job that would help me to get off of Welfare and be completely self-sufficient. We are now living completely on our own with minimal help from the state and that wouldn't have been possible without the help of Village of life stepping in when we had nowhere else to go. The emotional support, financial help, and safe harbor allowed me to keep moving forward and having hope, it allowed my children to be safe and gave me a place to look forward to going to at the end of a hard day. Learning from a seasoned single Mother helped me to see that light at the end of the tunnel. That I didn't always have to be in the situation I was in, that it wasn't forever. It helped me to accomplish the things I have so that I can in turn someday help another woman in my same situation."  ~ Nicole
